 Press Releases

  • Crossville, Tennessee – Crossville recently announced two new manufactured tile collections: Civilization Collection and Native Metal Collection.

    Civilization Porcelain Tile Collection

Inspired by the unique visuals and textures of basalt stone, the Civilization porcelain tile collection offers stunning visuals in light to dark colorways. From the depths of the ocean, volcanic activity rose to the surface, creating islands of basalt stone where some of the worlds earliest people formed great cities and governments. These early empires inspired Crossville’s new Civilization collection, a basalt-inspired line of porcelain tile. The smooth, fine-grained stone naturally varies in color from light to dark, and Civilization follows suit with six natural incarnations of basalt featuring unique crystalline visuals and subtle movement found in these unique rock formations.

“Capturing the beauty of natural stone, the Civilization collection offers a refreshingly unique porcelain collection that touches on the biophilia trend while also providing the performance qualities of porcelain,” explained Waldrep.

The Civilization collection is offered in six tones: Census, Populace, Communique, Currency, Power, and Legality. Offered in field tiles for residential and commercial applications, the collection includes semi-polished and unpolished options in a variety of sizes: 12” x 24”, 24” x 24”, and 24” x 48”.

Civilization’s mosaic options include a traditional 2”x2” mosaic and a unique polygon mosaic, and the trim package includes bullnose and cove base selections that provide a large range of application feasibility.

Carefully and responsibly made in the USA, the Civilization collection is suited for commercial or residential projects.

    Native Metal Porcelain Tile Collection

The Native Metal porcelain tile collection is an innovative series offering unique metallic visuals and textures in durable porcelain tile.

Featuring six unique porcelain tiles finished with multiple glaze techniques, Crossville’s talented artisans fuse materials into a product made for the generations. In addition to the field tiles, resin wall accents formulated with real metals provide two rectilinear decorative pieces — waves and dots. And the collection offers designers more impact with unique mosaic options where porcelain and resin seamlessly combine into an extraordinary surface material.

“Native Metal captures the eternal luxury of patinaed minerals and ores in a refreshingly unique porcelain offering,” said Waldrep. “Through the multiple glazing techniques, the stunning visuals evoke opulence and richness with textures now available in porcelain.”

The Native Metal collection is offered in six tones: Noble Platinum, Nickel Plate, Crucible Steel, Copper Deposit, Cobalt Ore, and Graphite Black. Scalable field tiles for residential and commercial applications, the collection includes a variety of sizes: 12” x 24”, 24” x 24”, and 24” x 48”.

The Native Metal mosaic options include a traditional 2”x2” mosaic and a mixed hexagon mosaic where porcelain and resin are seamlessly combined. Additionally, the collection offers two decorative art rectilinear wall trim options in waves and dots in three stunning colors: Champagne Gold, Rubbed Bronze, and White Iron. The trim package includes bullnose and cove base selections that provide a large range of application feasibility.

Carefully and responsibly made in the USA, the Native Metal collection is suited for commercial or residential projects.

  • Crossville Launches Stones at Large Porcelain Stone Collection
Porcelain Stone Offers Durability and High Performance in Sizes Up To 48” x 48”

Crossville, Tennessee – Crossville, Inc. has announced the launch of the Stones at Large porcelain stone collection, an innovative porcelain series inspired by some of the world’s most sought-after earthen materials. Crossville’s Stones at Large delivers enduring luxury on a grand scale.

Featuring warm and cool colors from marble, onyx, and quartzite, Stones at Large creatively reproduces the elegance of natural stone in sizes up to 48” x 48” with unpolished and polished surfaces. Because these stones are high-tech porcelain, the tiles offer the durability, stain resistance, and incredible life cycle that porcelain offers, while still achieving the luminescent visual depth found in nature’s creations.

“The size options offer designers an incredible base for modern styles with minimal grout lines in the styles of natural materials like marble, onyx, and quartzite. The combination of Stones at Large’s stunning visuals and powerful porcelain performance make it the answer so many designers have been looking for,” explained Lindsey Waldrep, Crossville’s Vice President of Marketing.

The Stones at Large porcelain stone collection is offered in three colors of warm and cool tones: Oro Bianco, Bianco Di Lucca, and Mare D’Autunno.

The collection’s grandeur is scalable as the field tiles are offered not only in 48” x 48” but also 24” x 48”, 12” x 24”, and 4” x12”, making exquisite surfaces for floors and walls in residential and commercial applications alike. All colors are available in polished and unpolished finishes.

Stones at Large mosaic options include the traditional 2”x2” mosaic and an intricate leaf mosaic, both sheet mounted. The trim package includes bullnose tiles providing a large range of application possibilities. The complete collection is suited for commercial or residential projects with options recommended for both interior walls and floors.

  • Crossville Launches Stone Fiction Porcelain Tile Collection

Offering Travertine Style With the Performance of Porcelain Tile

Crossville, Tennessee – Crossville, Inc. has announced the launch of the Stone Fiction porcelain tile collection, an innovative series featuring the popular appearance of crosscut travertine convincingly interpreted in durable porcelain tile.

“It’s not surprising that natural travertine is a very desirable look for a wide range of design applications,” shares Lindsey Waldrep, Crossville’s VP of marketing. “However, its high-level maintenance requirements often knock it out of consideration come specification time. We crafted Stone Fiction to give designers the travertine style they want and the elegantly effortless performance end-users need.”

Travertine’s beauty in design has been desired from ancient into modern times. The material is prominent in many iconic, historically significant structures such as the Colosseum in Rome that still stands today. Interestingly, its popularity has experienced a resurgence and is stronger than ever now. For example, searches for “travertine” on Etsy grew by 211% in 2021, and it is the second-most specified natural stone behind marble. Even so, for many contemporary applications, the stone’s natural properties don’t answer the unique demands of modern environments and performance standards.

“The combination of Stone Fiction’s stunning travertine look and powerful porcelain performance makes it the answer so many designers have been looking for,” Waldrep states.

Stone Fiction captures travertine’s distinct appearance with soft, swirling surface graphics and a mild, abundantly matchable neutral color palette. The line’s subtly striated visual and limestone-like textural detailing, achieved through Crossville’s advanced tile design technology, emulate the nuances of stone mineral deposits and pitting of the natural material. Though the overall effect captures the real stone’s appearance, the tiles are easy-to-clean and extremely durable.

“Although travertine is a beloved natural stone, its porousness and irregularity can make upkeep and long-term performance really challenging. In contrast, Stone Fiction is ideal for residential spaces, as well as the most demanding commercial installations—inside or out,” states Waldrep.

Stone Fiction’s versatile color options are Travertine Ivory, Beige, Silver, and Coffee. These hues are offered in both an unpolished interior finish and an exterior option suitable for walkways and pool surrounds. Though the texture of the tiles is smooth to the touch, the unpolished finish provides necessary slip resistance. This invites designers to carry a look from interior spaces to outdoor areas with no compromising performance.

The collection’s concise field tile sizes are 12” x 24” and 24” x 24” supplemented by a 2” x 2” mosaic. The trim package includes bullnose and covebase to provide a large range of application feasibility for commercial and residential projects.

Stone Fiction field tiles are made in the USA and Green Square Certified to answer sustainability standards. The complete collection is suited for commercial or residential projects with options recommended for both interior walls and floors.
