We can meet your certification, training, & education needs!

The Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational institution that offers local, regional, and national training programs for consumers, installers, construction professionals, architects, designers, building inspectors and sales associates interested in the sale and installation of ceramic tile.

CTEF is a leading authority on ceramic tile education and installation, trusted and relied upon by the industry and consumers, contributing to the training of industry professionals. CTEF is the foremost provider of installer certification programs.

CTEF will expand the knowledge of professional ceramic tile installation through training, education, and certification.

CTEF will promote the applicable industry standards to new and experienced tile installers, architects, designers, builders, and tile industry related people.

The overall goal of CTEF's activities is to raise the quality of ceramic tile installation

CTEF launched the Certified Tile Installer (CTI) program in 2008 to provide a means for good, knowledgeable installers to verify their skills and promote themselves to potential clients and employers. It enables professional installers to provide industry-recognized proof of their abilities and secure more work.  CTEF offers the only 3rd party non-union assessment of installer skills and knowledge recognized by the Tile Industry.

With the introduction of larger format ceramic tile, thinner tile, new setting materials and more combined with a demand for more complex tile design patterns, technical proficiency has become even more critical than when the program first launched.

Working with certified tile installers is a must!

The Certified Tile Installer (CTI) program and Advanced Certification for Tile Installers (ACT) programs are comprised of comprehensive tests of the skills and knowledge of experienced tile installers which includes multiple-choice exams and a hands-on tests. All are based on current industry standards and best practices for producing a sound installation that exhibits good workmanship. The tests, therefore, require that both the observable and non-observable characteristics of a finished installation are executed properly.

The ACT program is a collaborative effort between CTEF and the International Masonry Institue.
