 Show Specials

  • Smart Spacer System®: the laying technology for interlocking outdoor paving with integrated spacers

An innovative system for sustainable porcelain stoneware for outdoor paving, designed to reduce laying times and to obtain workmanlike grouts

Smart Spacer System® is the cutting-edge technology that involves the presence of spacers on the side of the tile to determine the minimum grout to be adopted, without the need to use adhesives, concrete, cement or similar. Thanks to the technology of the spacers integrated in the body of the porcelain stoneware tile, it is possible to quickly create the grouts, avoiding waste of material and long delays, often caused by the glues commonly used when laying outdoor flooring.

    Company background
Saxa Gres is an entrepreneurial group established in 2015, headquartered in Anagni, in the province of Frosinone. As a matter of fact, it represents Central Italy’s largest industrial hub in the ceramic sector, thanks to the acquisition of the former Ideal Standard plants located in Roccasecca, Tagina plants located in Gualdo Tadino.
An entrepreneurial group with a green vocation, which aims at implementing the principles of the circular economy in the ceramic sector. Circular refers to the manufacturing methods of materials made with a mix of ash and clay coming from local quarries and incinerators, which ensure the award of the Ecolabel certification to products with the highest Green component.
Circular also refers to the path that has led to relaunching historic plants in crisis-hit areas, otherwise destined for closure, with the successful rehiring of some 500 employers. In order to salvage employment and to boost the skills of those being already employed for years in the sector, the whole production has been concentrated at these sites.
The successful intuition of the Group's founder and President, Francesco Borgomeo, was precisely that of recovering plants that were close to being abandoned, relaunching them thanks to the implementation of the principles of sustainability and environmental protection, and enhancing the skills of the workforce.
Saxa Gres produces porcelain stoneware tiles in different cuts and thicknesses  and extra-thick sizes (from 2cm to 6.5cm) for all types of outdoor environments and street furniture.  In 2018 the company has launched the Grestone line products, which include the "nuova pietra Ceramica" made of up to 30% of materials originating from waste, realised in various types of thicknesses, from 2cm to 6.5cm, capable of responding to stress unimaginable for any ceramic surface so far, offering new opportunities for urban design.
In 2019, the group begins the production of the world's first porcelain stoneware sanpietrino. The catalog includes a wide range of cobblestones, capable of reproducing the aesthetic peculiarities typical of handcraftsmanship. Especially appreciated by city administrations are the so called 'parking' cobblestones; this product line, with white or blue ceramic heads, is literally able to reproduce on the ground the stripes of urban parking lots. The advantage lies in the total absence of periodic maintenance (i.e. stripes repainting), as Grestone cobblestones are practically eternal.
