DESIGNER TILE OPTIONS: Our exciting glass collections, colorful ceramic wall tile, and natural stone lines are gorgeous, high performance solutions for commercial and residential designs.

CROSSVILLE PORCELAIN COUNTERTOPS: We lead the countertop revolution with innovative 12mm-think porcelain slabs that perform amazingly indoors, outside, for commercial and residential projects.

Our Tile Advancements
We offer proprietary coatings such as the sustainable Hydrotect™ coating and the protective Cross-Sheen® finish. These innovations make our already high performance products even more technically advanced.

Crossville The Made In America Advantage

  • Crossville Announces 2019 Recycling Program Milestones

All-time Recycling Total Nears 134 Million Pounds of Fired Waste Diverted from Landfills

CROSSVILLE, Tennessee – Officials with domestic tile manufacturer Crossville Inc. have announced the company recycled 7,951,271 pounds of fired porcelain in 2019, bringing the company’s cumulative recycling total to nearly 134 million pounds since the 2009 launch of the Tile Take-Back® program and subsequent TOTO USA recycling partnership.

These recycling initiatives are based on the company’s proprietary process for recycling fired porcelain products, including post-consumer materials. Through Tile Take-Back®, Crossville is able to recycle previously installed tile collected from its distribution network, as well as scraps that result from tile cutting during installation, sizing or sample creation. Through its TOTO partnership, Crossville receives pre-consumer fired porcelain toilets that do not meet quality standards; prior to the partnership, these cast-offs were being sent to landfills for disposal, but now they are recycled for use in manufacturing new tile.

All 134 million cumulative pounds of the recycled material Crossville has diverted from landfills have been or will be introduced into the tile production process. This use of recycled material during manufacturing results in Crossville maintaining its status as a net consumer of waste for an eighth consecutive year. Net waste consumption is achieved by using more waste than is created during production.

Here’s the break-out of Crossville’s total of 7,951,271 pounds of fired porcelain recycled in 2019.

--- 4,560,984 pounds fired scrap product at the company’s plant

    --- 3,261,860 pounds of TOTO’s scrap porcelain

--- 128,427 pounds of post-consumer waste from the Tile Take-Back® program

Additionally, in 2019, Crossville removed 2,323,046 pounds of filtrate solids from dirty water and recycled back into tile production.

Tile Take-Back® and the TOTO USA partnership are just two of many sustainable practices Crossville maintains companywide. For more information about all of Crossville’s sustainability practices, visithttps://www.crossvilleinc.com/Resources/Sustainability.

    About Crossville’s Recycling Initiatives

    Tile Take-Back Program®

The Tile Take-Back® program is Crossville’s answer to the major environmental problem facing the tile industry today: the recycling of fired tile. Because this program is so beneficial throughout the industry, Crossville openly accepts post-consumer tile from other brands as well as projects not originating from Crossville.

    TOTO USA Partnership

In 2011, Crossville launched a partnership with sanitaryware manufacturer TOTO USA to receive and recycle that company’s fired porcelain refuse. Today, there is recycled content in every square foot of porcelain tile produced by Crossville because of the harvested material from TOTO, reducing the need for raw materials for tile production.

  • Crossville Launches Jazz Age Porcelain Tile Collection

New Line Captures the Unique Character of Timeworn Hardwoods

Crossville, Inc. has launched the Jazz Age porcelain tile collection. This unique collection captures the look of traditional hardwood floors with an authentically-aged patina. Inspired by the character and style of the flooring found in a nightclub of the 1920s or ‘30s, Jazz Age’s surface visual features touches of distressing and marks that would occur over time in bustling, busy venues.

“The collection has a very European feel,” explains Lindsey Waldrep, Crossville VP of marketing. “It looks like wood in buildings, cafes, and clubs that have stood the test of time.”

She goes on to describe the details of the surface visual that are achieved through Crossville’s digital plus technology.

“We developed Jazz Age so that each detail on the tile planks tells a story. You’ll see what appears to be wear from nightly dancing on the wood graining, and we mimicked the high-low sheen club floors get from waxing. We even included the look of scuffs and subtle undulations that would come from chair legs and tapping feet.”

Waldrep points out that all these authentic, timeworn wood details are interpreted in durable and enduring porcelain tile that is ideal for high traffic and wet areas in which true wood could never be specified.

“Jazz Age is a distinct evolution in wood-look tile that will give designers a great alternative for so many projects and unique applications,” she shares.

The collection’s four wood-look hues (Louis, Duke, Count, and Billie) offer natural tones with lasting appeal and are offered in an 8” x 48” plank tile size that makes the wood appearance even more convincing. Two mosaic options—the standard 2”x2” square mosaic and a fashionable herringbone mosaic—invite creativity to complete any design. The covebase and bullnose trim allow for fully finished looks.

In contrast to its true wood predecessor, Jazz Age is easy to clean and maintain, even in high traffic areas in commercial or residential settings.

  • Story Teller Porcelain Tile Collection

  • An Age-Old Graining Technique Meets Digital Technology in Story Teller, the Latest Porcelain Tile Collection From Crossville

The Look of the Ancient Art of Cerusing Results in Nuanced Tile Style in Four Color Pairings

Crossville, Inc. has announced the launch of its new Story Teller porcelain tile collection. This unique wood-look collection captures the graining effect achieved through the antique art of cerusing with modern digital technology to provide a mirrored, light-and-dark woodgrain appearance. Cerusing is a 16th-century contrasting technique developed to highlight the graining of wood, yet its stunning effects are as current today as when they were first discovered long ago.

“Story Teller has a key story to tell. Apart from being a beautiful and very realistic wood in porcelain tile, it also works as four color pairs. These are light and dark versions of tones inspired by cerusing and reverse cerusing,” explains Scott Jones, Crossville director of product development. “If a designer wanted, Story Teller offers built-in coordination for wall-to-floor or floor-to-floor transitions.”

Each of Story Teller’s four pairs of colorways—Satiric and Serious, Falsity and Fact, Villain and Hero, and Evil and Good—is designed to reflect the pale and deepened tonalities generated by this cerusing process. The contrasts offer visual transitions between floors and walls and strike a unique balance in design.

Story Teller comes in a 6” x 48” plank tile size that is ideal for creating a variety of custom tile patterns. Designers may also incorporate the collection’s standard 2”x2” square mosaic or the 1”x6” brick mosaic to add interest to any design. Additionally, the covebase and bullnose trim finish installations in style.

Responsibly manufactured in the U.S., Story Teller is suitable for interior floors and walls and covered exterior walls in commercial and residential settings. It’s a certified porcelain product and GreenSquared certified.

  • Crossville Announces the Introduction of Crossville Porcelain Countertops

12mm-Thick Porcelain Product for Commercial & Residential Installations, Available Now

Crossville, Tennessee – Domestic tile manufacturer Crossville, Inc. has announced the launch of Crossville Porcelain Countertops, a versatile, 12mm porcelain product engineered to provide unique endurance and style for all types of countertop installations, including exterior applications. The line offers designers a range of surface visuals for commercial and residential projects. In keeping with the performance expected of porcelain tile, Crossville Porcelain Countertops deliver advanced technical characteristics, ensuring superior durability, low maintenance, and stain resistance.

According to Frank Douglas, Crossville’s VP of business development, the benefits of Crossville’s porcelain countertops are substantial.

“Our porcelain countertops offer the superior performance expected of porcelain tile—strength, stain resistance, ease of maintenance, UV stability, and weather resistance. The performance offers real advantages compared to stone and other materials used for countertops,” Douglas explains.

100% Porcelain Body for Reliable Performance on Countertops

The 100% porcelain product is fired with added fiberglass reinforcement on the back. This added measure of strength combined with the dense, non-porous body ensures the material will not crack, yellow, or stain and is built to last. It’s suited for interior and exterior countertop installations in commercial or residential settings. Crossville Porcelain Countertops’ technical characteristics aid in its outperformance of alternative countertop surfaces such as natural stone, quartz, and other sintered and porcelain products that are available on the market.

    • Longer lasting – resistant to stains, heat, high temperatures, chemicals, acids, alkalis, solvents, scratches, and abrasions
    • Easier to maintain – requires no special cleaning products and are resistant to mold, fungi, and graffiti
    • Suited for outdoors – frost resistant and colorfast in UV light
    • Easier to fabricate for installers – dimensional stability makes the countertops easier to cut and fiberglass inclusion prevents splintering and cracking

Advanced Product Design Achieves Authentic Looks, Styles, Colors

The 10 products in the Crossville Porcelain Countertops line, all exclusive to Crossville, capture super-realistic visuals and nuanced tones. Several options are designed to coordinate with popular porcelain tile collections by Crossville, Inc. The looks offered are Black Tie, Night Watch, Film Noir, Suspense, Baltic, Wheat Field, Femme Fatale, Lightning, State of Grace, and Sugar Coat. Each comes in unpolished or polished finishes.

The 1620mm x 3240mm (63.78” x 127.56”) size offers ease of installation for a range of countertop applications. Additionally, the material may be finished in a variety of ways to achieve custom looks. Installers may build the product up with mitered edges to desired thickness or keep things sleek and modern with a 12mm eased or bullnose edge. The material may be extended to backsplashes and shower walls to create cohesive looks.
