Bucine Bluestone® is an impervious sandstone standing up to rigorous freeze-thaw weather patterns. It is quarried in the Tuscan Hills above Florence and has been used for centuries as the "domestic stone" for both paving and cladding of all kinds of public and private dwellings.
While the local usage around Tuscany concentrated in the more affluent and historical areas of Florence as well as some of the magnificent Villas in the surrounding hills goes back to the Renaissance period with design luminaries of the likes of Michelangelo, Brunelleschi and many others from their school and down the centuries with magnificent results both interior and exterior, the stone became a natural extension in its use for all kinds of applications in northern climates, where not only its qualifications but also its handsome gunmetal grey coloration fit perfectly in modern sleek design solutions.
Brought forward to present times, thanks also to its similarity to the American "relative", the domestic Bluestone, please welcome the successful story we are enjoying with our Bucine Bluestone®.
